Zusammenfassung
Die vektorielle Natur der kardialen Aktionspotentiale wurde bereits von Einthoven (1913), dem Begründer der modernen Elektrokardiographie vollumfänglich erkannt. Obwohl es ihm aus technischen Gründen noch verwehrt war, den Depolarisationsvorgang schon als Vektorschleife darzustellen, hat er durch seine Arbeit über die Berechnung der Richtung und Größe des manifesten Vektors gleichzeitig mit der Elektrokardiographie auch die heutige Vektorkardiographie begründet (Einthoven, 1913). Versuche einer indirekten vektoriellen Darstellung anhand von Vektorberechnungen aus dem skalaren Extremitäten — Elektrokardiogramm folgten denn auch sehr rasch (Fahr, 1915; Mann, 1920; Lewis, 1925), während die direkte Darstellung der Vektorschleife auf dem Kathodenstrahloscillographen noch für längere Zeit mit großen Schwierigkeiten verbunden blieb (Savjoloff, 1929; Sulzer, 1936; Mann, 1938).
