Abstract

It was twenty years ago this year, that Professor Meyer-Schwickerath held a renowned course in Essen, introducing to colleagues from around the world, his new technique — light coagulation — for the treatment of ocular tumors. Not only did this prove to be a technical triumph, but, in addition, it forged friendships among scientists in the field of oncology which have endured over the intervening decades.
