Abstract

The detection and identification of involatile, thermally labile organic compounds in complex solutions play an important role in biology and medicine. Obviously SIMS is a very effective technique for the analysis of these organic compounds. Parent ions and characteristic fragment ions in the spectra enable detection, identification and structural information for extremely small amounts of material down to the subnanogram range. Possible interferences in the spectra, however, demand a pre-separation of complex mixtures by liquid chromatography S are possible.
