Abstract
The Reaction Principle. The rocks of the earth’s crust are divided usually into three groups: magmatic rocks which crystallize from a fluid melt, sedimentary rocks which are mechanically or chemical-biologically formed from weathering products, and metamorphic rocks which form by transformation processes from the two previously mentioned groups. The transition between magmatic and metamorphic rocks is gradational and subdivision somewhat arbitrary.
