Zusammenfassung

Das klinische Bild der infektiösen Endokarditis ist äußerst vielgestaltig sowohl in seiner Primärmanifestation als auch im weiteren Verlauf, der durch kardiale und extrakardiale Prozesse oder Komphkationen bestimmt wird. Aufgrund eines wechselnden Musters von teils unspezifischen, teils organweisenden Beschwerden und khnischen Zeichen muß der Arzt die Verdachtsdiagnose stellen und sie durch gezielte labormedizinische Diagnostik (s. S. 225) erhärten. Der Infektionsmodus und (damit zusammenhängend) die Erreger beeinflussen das Bild ebenso wie konditionierende Faktoren auf seiten des Kranken und die ärzthchen Behandlungsmaßnahmen.
