Zusammenfassung

Trotz seines recht seltenen Vorkommens beim Menschen hat der Botulismus wegen des meist sehr schweren und gelegentlich verzweifelt unaufhaltsamen Verlaufs immer wieder ein waches Interesse gefunden. Beim Tier hat er vor allem in Pelztierfarmen und in den Rinderherden Südafrikas allerdings auch zahlenmäßig Verheerungen angerichtet und tut es z. T. immer noch.
