Zusammenfassung

Unter der Bezeichnung„Parainfluenzaviren“ (Typ 1—4) werden einige neuere Myxoviren zusammengefaßt (Andrewes et al.), die zwar kein gemeinsames gruppenspezifisches Antigen haben, von denen jedoch jeder Typ antigene Beziehungen zu mindestens einem weiteren, mitunter auch zu mehreren Typen besitzt (Cook et al.). Neben einigen mit den Influenzaviren gemeinsamen biologischen Eigenschaften weisen sie aber auch einige grundsätzliche Differenzen auf. Sie werden heute zu den Para-Myxoviren gerechnet (s. S. 338). Sinnvoller wäre es jedoch, sie zusammen mit den ihnen sehr nahe verwandten Mumps- und Newcastle-disease-Viren als,,Parainfluenzagruppe„ der “Influenzagruppe„ gegenüberzustellen. Hier sollen nur die Infektionen der Parainfluenzaviren 1—4 besprochen werden (Tab. 1), während der Mumps und die atypische Geflügelpest in getrennten Kapiteln Berücksichtigung finden.
