Abstract

Surface physics is at present undergoing major development. More and more powerful techniques are being devised, each having its own limits, and new techniques are being worked out at the same time in order to have complementary information. In particular, there are often difficulties in accurately appreciating the respective parts of the signal issuing from the bulk and from the surface proper.
