Abstract

In the tail of the energy distribution of electrons emitted from solids bom barded by keV ions one can notice, in certain cases, Auger electrons from the filling of inner-shell (core) holes of target atoms.

  20. It can be easily seen that the fact that our analyzer is not aimed along the surface normal but 15° away from it is unimportant (cos 15°=0.97, and very few energetic atoms are sputtered at angles larger than 75° from the surface normal)
