Zusammenfassung
Eisen(II)-hydroxid, Fe(OH)2, bildet sich in Form eines weißen, flockigen Niederschlags, wenn Fe(II)-Salzlösungen unter Luftausschluß mit Alkalien versetzt werden. Es kristallisiert in einem Gitter vom CdJ2(I)-Typ. Die Bildungsenthalpie (25 °C) beträgt − 568kJ/mol. Das magnetische Moment (25 °C) beläuft sich auf 5,22 B.M. Fe(OH)2 zeigt leicht amphoteres Verhalten. Beim Kochen 50%iger Natronlauge mit fein verteiltem Eisen und anschließendem Abkühlen erhält man feine, blaugrüne Kristalle des Na4[Fe(OH)6].
