Abstract
When the patient is not making urine, do not give Lasix (furosemide). It is a fundamental misunderstanding of human physiology to give a diuretic to a patient with acute oliguria. No scientific rationale or clinical evidence supports the use of loop diuretics in patients with acute oliguria; these agents should rarely if ever be used in this setting.
The treatment of decreased intravascular volume (hypovolemia) is fluid resuscitation.
