Abstract
Interpretation of a bedside film is fraught by numerous pitfalls. However, a number of studies have demonstrated that daily chest radiographs frequently demonstrate new, unexpected, or changing abnormalities, which result in changes in therapy. Daily portable chest examinations should therefore be performed in all but the most stable ICU patients.
