Abstract

After having represented in the preceding chapter the problem of translating Algol into machine language and after the more general discussion of possibilities of solution we shall now start with the description of a specific Algol translator and of the target language program to be produced. This requires that terms like source language and target language at the outset must be specified by defining exactly in each case the language used. This is the task of the present chapter.
