Abstract

In recent years many papers have been published which deal with the handling of algorithmic languages and especially with the translation of Algol. Among these, the papers of H. Rutishauser [88] and C. Böhm [12] appear to have been the first. The following sections and the formal translator are based on the publications of K. Samelson and F.L. Bauer [94] and of A. A. Grau [40]. The principles expounded in these shall now be summarized.
