Zusammenfassung
2, 4, 6-Trinitrotoluol C6H2(CH3) (NO2)3 ist der Hauptbestandteil des Sprengstoffes TNT, der auch unter dem Namen Trolit, Triton, Trotyl bekannt ist. Seine Herstellung erfolgt in der Weise, daß Toluol durch eine Mischung von Schwefelsäure und Salpetersäure bei einer Temperatur von 35–40° C nitriert wird. Aus dem so gewonnenen Mononitrotoluol wird durch wiederholte Nitrierung Trinitrotoluol gewonnen. Das Rohtrinitrotoluol wird dann durch Sulfitizierunggereinigt. Bei der Herstellung des TNT besteht eine Gefährdung der Arbeiter durch Schwefelsäure- und Salpetersäuredämpfe und insbesondere durch nitrose Gase.
