Zusammenfassung
Beryllium ist ein „seltenes Metall“, dessen besondere Eigenschaften zu seiner wachsenden Verwendung in letzter Zeit geführt haben. Gewonnen wird es meist aus dem Beryll (3BeO · A12O3 · 6SiO2) unter Zusatz von Na2SiF6 oder Natrium-carbonat oder Natriumhydroxyd durch Zusammenschmelzen und schließlich elektrolytische Gewinnung aus den Verbindungen. Verwendet wird es als Zusatz zu anderen Metallen, deren Dichtigkeit, elektrische Leitfähigkeit und deren Widerstand gegen Korrosion es erhöht, ferner zur Erzeugung fluorescierender Lampen und in der keramischen Industrie.
