Zusammenfassung

Obgleich das Krankheitsbild der Periarteriitis nodosa schon seit langer Zeit bekannt ist, ist es im dermatologischen Schrifttum erst seit relativ kurzer Zeit berücksichtigt worden. So fehlt z.B. in der ersten Auflage des Jadassohnschen Handbuches ein entsprechendes Kapitel. Aus verschiedenen Gründen ist nun der Periarteriitis nodosa und ganz allgemein den entzündlichen Gefäßprozessen in den letzten Jahren in zunehmendem Maße Beachtung geschenkt worden, denn einerseits gestattet eine verbesserte klinische Diagnostik auch nichttypische Krankheitsbilder zu Lebzeiten des Patienten zu diagnostizieren, andererseits lassen Statistiken erkennen, daß die entzündlichen Gefäßreaktionen eine deutliche Zunahme erfahren haben, wobei speziell die durch medikamentöse Allergien bedingten Gefäßkrankheiten viel häufiger geworden zu sein scheinen. So berichtete Sandler 1938 erst über 20 Beobachtungen in der Literatur, während wenig später bereits Hunderte von Fällen bekanntgeworden sind. Die Aktualität der Probleme, die sich mit diesen Krankheiten verbinden, geht z.B. daraus hervor, daß verschiedene wissenschaftliche Tagungen der Periarteriitis nodosa gewidmet worden sind (Symposium der Mayo Clinic 1954; Gemeinschaftstagung der Deutschen Gesellschaft für innere Medizin und der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Allergieforschung 1954). Diesen und anderen zusammenfassenden Darstellungen ist es zu verdanken, daß das Krankheitsbild der Periarteriitis nodosa jetzt so weit bekannt ist, daß eine zuverlässige Charakterisierung möglich ist.
