Zusammenfassung

Die Pathologie der Hitzeschädigungen war in den vergangenen beiden Jahrzehnten oft Gegenstand eingehender Untersuchungen. Sowohl Chirurgen als auch Dermatologen, Internisten und Pathologen haben sich mit den verschiedenen Problemen des Schocks und der Verbrennungskrankheit befaßt. Bückt man auf die geschichtliche Entwicklung dieser Krankheitslehre zurück, so fällt auf, daß viele Fragestellungen über Jahrzehnte immer wieder auftauchen und je nach dem Stande der theoretischen Medizin oder der praktischen Therapie anders beantwortet werden. In der Beurteilung und Behandlung von Hitzeschäden spiegeln sich offenbar solche Wechsel und Wellenbewegungen der medizinischen Anschauungen besonders eindrücklich. Eine Behandlungsmethode kann in kurzer Zeit neu aufkommen und das Feld eindeutig beherrschen, bald darauf aber völlig in Vergessenheit geraten, ja sogar in Verruf kommen. Ein besonders eindrückliches Beispiel dafür ist das wechselvolle Schicksal der Tanninbehandlung der Dermatitis combustionis.
