The Prognostic Value of Flow Cytometric DNA Analysis in Human Esophageal Carcinomas

  • Conference paper
Diseases of the Esophagus

Abstract

It has been established that human solid tumors often exhibit an abnormally high amount of cellular DNA. In recent years, the prognostic significance of flow cytometric DNA measurement has been investigated in many human neoplasms [1, 2, 6]. In this study, flow cytometric DNA analysis was performed in 30 cases of esophageal cancer. The principal aim was to evaluate the importance of DNA measurement in relation to histological and clinical characteristics of the tumor and to short-term prognosis.
