Cryptorchidism and Malignant Testicular Disease

  • Chapter
Cryptorchidism

Abstract

The term cryptorchidism is derived from two Greek words — kryptos, meaning hidden, and orchis, denoting testicle. — Hidden within this testis is the propensity to develop neoplasia. In this chapter the theoretical, environmental, physical, and histologic factors that interact to produce malignant disease in the testis of the cryptorchid male will be discussed.
