Abstract

Contrasts in an X-ray film or X-ray computed tomogram are caused by the differing absorption of the rays as they pass through structures in the body. It is easy to calculate the quantity of a contrast medium in the path of the rays, or the contrast medium concentration in a given volume (CT) from the ray absorption, if the absorption in the same region is known before contrast medium administration.
