Anomalies of Sex Chromosomes in Tortoiseshell Male Cats

  • Conference paper
Comparative Mammalian Cytogenetics

Abstract

The enigma of the rare tortoiseshell male cat has intrigued scientists for many years. The explanation seems to have a cytogenetic basis, justifying a summary of present knowledge in the context of this Conference. We shall report two cases in detail, review other reported cases and discuss possible mechanisms of etiology.
