The Position of Chromosomes within the Cell

Much evidence exists for a non-random position of the chromosomes within the cell nucleus in interphase as well as within the “mitotic figure” in mitosis. Most earlier investigations were made on plants and lower animals, but during the last decade many observations have also accumulated showing a non-random position of chromosomes in mammalian and human cells.
