Abstract

Dr. Hsu presented the clinical and autopsy findings of a 43 year old multipara who developed choriocarcinoma following a curettage for threatened abortion. During methotrexate treatment she manifested signs of central nervous system metastasis and despite continuous vigorous application of the drug, died. During the course of her treatment, cutaneous and mucosal metastates had sloughed out. At autopsy brain metastases were surrounded by plasma cells, lymphocytes, and polymorphonuclear leukocytes. These findings were interpreted to implicate immunologic participation in tumor rejection in this patient.
