Enzyme and Phospholipid Patterns in the Compound Eye of Insects

Insect visual pigments have been recently studied in detail (1,2). However, other compounds of the insect eye, such as enzymes and phospholipids, have received little attention. We have attempted to supplement this neglected aspect of insect visual physiology, with particular emphasis on comparison with visual systems in other animals.
