Zusammenfassung
Der vorhergehende Vortrag hat den Mechanismus besprochen, durch den molekularer Sauerstoff an das Hämoglobin- und Myoglobinmolekül gebunden wird. Der Warmblüter Organismus, speziell der Mensch, braucht für seine Existenz ein Sauerstofftransportmolekül, da er auf eine aerobe Energielieferung angewiesen ist. Diese aerobe Energiegewinnung spielt sich an der Atmungskette in den Mitochondrien ab. Dabei wird die Energie durch Reaktion von Substratwasserstoff mit molekularem Sauerstoff gewonnen. Während der Substratwasserstoff aus einer chemischen Bindung mit dem Kohlenstoff der Nährstoffmoleküle freigemacht wird, muß der Sauerstoff direkt in molekularer Form bis an die Atmungskette herangebracht werden. Daher stehen Fragen des Sauerstofftransportes mit im Mittelpunkt einer Physiologie der Gewebsatmung.
