Zusammenfassung

Der Begriff „Antibiose“, schon 1889 von Vuillmin geprägt, wurde 1945 von Waksman wieder aufgegriffen. Waksman definierte ihn als Wachstumshemmung oder Abtötung von Mikroorganismen durch von anderen Mikroorganismen gebildete Stoffe. In neuerer Zeit werden zunehmend auch aus pflanzlichen oder tierischen Geweben isolierte Stoffe mit einbezogen.
