Zusammenfassung

Tierische Gifte sind Produkte des tierischen Organismus, welche angreifende oder angegriffene Tiere und Menschen auf dem Wege pharmakologisch-toxikologischer Reaktionen oder biochemischer Umsetzungen schädigen. Aktiv giftig ist ein Tier, wenn es z. B. durch Beißen, Stechen oder Speien ein wirksames Sekret an den Gegner heranbringt; enthält dagegen ein Tier Giftstoffe, welche erst durch Verzehren seiner Körperteile wirksam werden, so spricht man von passiver Giftigkeit.
