Zusammenfassung

20 Jahre seit der Entdeckung des Erregers von AIDS durch die Französin Francoise Barré- Sinoussi und Kollegen sind hinsichtlich des Ursprungs des Virus drei Fakten akzeptiert:

  1. 1)

    Das Virus hatenge Verwandtschaft zu Retroviren der Affen (SIV = Simian Immunodeficiency Virus). Viren dieser Art existieren schon lange im Affen und im Menschen. Sie gehören zu den Lentiviren, die auch in anderen Spezies chronische degenerative Erkrankungen verursachen.

  2. 2)

    Die Pandemie hat ihren Ursprung in Afrika.

  3. 3)

    Die schnelle globale Verbreitung wäre ohne Flugzeuge und Massentourismus nicht möglich gewesen.
