Zusammenfassung
Die Einführung in das Thema „Neuropeptide“ (Wuttke 1987) verdeutlicht, wie unübersichtlich unser Bild der Funktionen von Peptiden als Hormone, Neuromodulatoren und Transmitter zur Zeit ist. Wir können keine klare Zuordnung bestimmter Peptide zu einzelnen dieser Funktionen oder zu bestimmten Bildungsorten erkennen. Ein besseres Verständnis der Zusammenhänge könnte uns aber die Entstehungsgeschichte der Hormonsysteme vermitteln. Die heutigen Systeme haben sich aus Vorläufern entwickelt, die in der Stammesgeschichte allmählich ihre Struktur und ihre Funktion geändert haben.
