Zusammenfassung

Das Angiotensin-Converting-Enzym (A.C.E.) ist eine Carboxypeptidase mit einem Molekulargewicht von 150 000–480 000. Normalerweise kommt es an der Oberfläche aller Endothelzellen vor, in hoher Konzentration findet es sich in Kaveolen an der Oberflächenmembran der Endothelzellen der Lungenkapillaren. Bereits 1975 wurden von Lieberman [3] bei Patienten mit einer akuten, nichtbehandelten Sarkoidose erhöhte Serum-A.C.E.-Spiegel festgestellt. In der Folgezeit wurden auch bei anderen Lungenerkrankungen, wie Silikose, Asbestose, allergische Alveolitis, nicht jedoch bei Lungenfibrosen, chronischer Bronchitis, Emphysem und Asthma bronchiale, erhöhte Enzymspiegel festgestellt [1]. 1980 wurden erneut von Lieberman und Sastre [4] bei Diabetikern mit einer schweren proliferativen Retinopathie erhöhte A.C.E.-Spiegel im Serum nachgewiesen.
