Zusammenfassung

Am 15. April 1933 erschien die berühmte Abhandlung von Wilhelm His (jun.), als Emeritus und von Lörrach aus, „Zur Geschichte des Atrioventrikularbündels“. Darin findet sich der Satz „Seitdem (gemeint ist seit 1909) wurde das Reizleitungssystem aufs genaueste durchforscht und gehört heute (1933) zu den best bekannten Gebilden des Herzens“. Als mich Herr Konrad Spang vor 20 Jahren bat, eine pathologisch-anatomische Einleitung zu seinem Buche „Rhythmusstörungen“ (erschienen 1957) zu schreiben, hatte ich nicht unerhebliche Schwierigkeiten, die Erschütterungen zu überwinden, die eben diese so gut beschriebenen Einrichtungen durch die Arbeiten der Glomsets (1940, 1948, 1952) in Amerika erlitten hatten. — Inzwischen hatte ich mich mehrfach mit allen hierher gehörigen Fragen zu beschäftigen (Doerr, 1959, 1963, 1969, 1970, 1971) und bin doch nicht frei von Zweifeln.
