Zusammenfassung

Deutung und Bewertung von Pulsunregelmäßigkeiten haben seit altersher ebensoviel Interesse gefunden, wie sie auch auf Schwierigkeiten gestoßen sind. Im alten China erfreuten sie sich bereits im 6. Jahrhundert vor Christi großer Wertschätzung. In der Schrift ,,Schwierige Kapitel der Medizin’’ von Pien Ch’ Io, 1633 von Wei Yuan veröffentlicht, wird bereits die prognostische Bedeutung mit der Häufigkeit der Pulsintermittenzen (kompensatorische Pause nach Extrasystole ?) in Zusammenhang gebracht: Weniger als eine auf 50 Pulse sollte noch mit guter Gesundheit zu vereinbaren sein; bei einer auf 40, 30, 20 oder 10 Pulse sollten 4 bis 1 Organe erkrankt und die Lebenserwartung auf 1 bis 4 Jahre reduziert sein. Bei einer Pulsintermittenz auf 3 bis 4 Pulse wurde das Ableben in 6 bis 7 Tagen, bei noch größerer Häufigkeit in 3 bis 4 Tagen erwartet (zit. [13]).
