Zusammenfassung
Der günstige Einfluß von Crataegus-Extrakten bei leichten Formen der Herzinsuffizienz ist seit langem bekannt. Weißdorntrockenextrakt aus Blättern mit Blüten und standardisiert auf 2,2% Flavonoide (Lichtwer Pharma, Berlin, LI 132) zeigt im pharmakologisch und klinisch relevanten Konzentrationsbereich 1–100 mg/1 (5,2 · 10−8 bis 5,2 · 10−6 Mol/1 Flavonoide, mittleres Molekulargewicht 425 g/Mol) drei Hauptwirkungen im Herz-Kreislauf-System:

positive Inotropie bei nur mäßig gesteigertem Sauerstoffverbrauch,
-
Vasodilatation von Koronar- und Skelettmuskelgefäßen bei erhöhtem Blutfluß,
-
Verlängerung der Refraktärzeit am Myokard, eine Wirkung ohne arrhythmogenes Potential.
