Zusammenfassung

Mit der perkutanen transluminalen Koronarangioplastie steht eine faszinierende Methode zur Verfügung, ohne Operation bedeutsame Koronarstenosen zu beseitigen. 15 Jahre nach Einführung der Ballondilatation (PTCA) durch Andreas Grüntzig (12) sind 1992 weltweit über 500.000 Eingriffe durchgeführt worden (21). Technische Weiterentwicklung der Ballonsysteme, Erfahrung und Training der Untersucherhaben zu verbesserten Ergebnissen, Reduktion von Komplikationen und Ausweitung der Indikationen geführt (20).
