Zusammenfassung
Der Prävention kommt in der Kardiologie ein besonders hoher Stellenwert zu (1). Demzufolge ist zu erwarten, daß durch Maßnahmen, die den arteriosklerotischen Grundprozeß und seine thrombotischen Komplikationen günstig beeinflussen, die kardiovaskuläre Mortalität und Morbidität entscheidend reduziert werden. Eine wesentliche Voraussetzung ist allerdings eine effektive Kontrolle sämtlicher kardiovaskulärer Risikofaktoren (2).
