Zusammenfassung
Ein korpulenter Landtagsabgeordneter von 45 Jahren erleidet während einer Fahrt auf der Autobahn einen Koronarinfarkt und wird zur nächstgelegenen Intensivstation transportiert. Zwei und fünf Stunden später gerät er in eine Kammertachykardie und wird beide Male erfolgreich reanimiert. Nach zwei Tagen hat die Gefahr einer erneuten Arrhythmie deutlich abgenommen, weshalb die Hoffnungen seiner Angehörigen und Ärzte, wachsen. Der Patient ist nicht so recht ansprechbar — noch nicht, wie ein junger Kollege meint. Am Nachmittag des dritten Behandlungstages erkennt der Patient seine Angehörigen allenfalls für Augenblicke, die Hände fahren ruhelos über die Bettdecke und beschäftigen sich endlich mit den Infusionskathetern. Sein erfahrener Pfleger weiß, woran er ist. Er fixiert den Patienten und schützt ihn damit vor sich selbst, er wartet die Abendvisite nicht ab, sondern benachrichtigt den Arzt vom Dienst sofort: Ohne Behandlung würde sich die Prognose des unerwartet einsetzenden Entzugsdelirs von Viertelstunde zu Viertelstunde verschlechtern. Mit einer zu spät einsetzenden Behandlung des Alkoholentzugssyndroms kann das Leben des Patienten häufig nicht mehr erhalten werden (12, 15). 15–30% der Pat. überleben das Entzugssyndrom nicht (5).
