Zusammenfassung

Nachdem Osler 1880 erstmals ein schreiähnliches Systolikum beschrieben hatte, berichtete Gallavardin 1887 über einen mesosystolischen Galopp, welcher zunächst auf pleuro-perikar-diale Adhäsionen zurückgeführt wurde. Erst 1931 stellte White die Hypothese auf, daß abnormale Chordae tendineae der Mitralklappe Ursache des mesosystolischen Klicks bzw. Geräusches seien (31). 1963 konnten Barlow et al. in angiographischen Untersuchungen beweisen, daß Klick und Geräusch auf eine sich vorwölbende Mitralklappe zurückzuführen sind (6, 47). Der nunmehr allgemein akzeptierte Ausdruck des Mitralklappenprolaps (MVP) wurde 1966 von Criley geprägt (21).
