Abstract
Recent clinical experiences have suggested that high doses of nitrates administered by continuous infusion are very effective both in relieving pain and in preventing myocardial ischemic attacks in patients with frequent anginal episodes at rest (1–2). However, intravenous therapy cannot be proposed for long-term treatment and different routes of administration (sublingual, oral, or percutaneous) are usually employed for chronic use in outpatients.
