Zusammenfassung
Nachdem Deutsch und Morton 1957 experimentell zeigen konnten, daß Mercaptane in vitro Makroglobuline durch Sprengung der Disulfidbrücken aufspalten, führten Jaffe 1962 und Miehlke und Kohlhardt 1967 D-Penicillamin (DPA) als medikamentöse Behandlung (sog. Basisbehandlung) bei der rheumatoider Arthritis (RA) ein. Hierbei galt zunächst die Hypothese, daß durch DPA Rheumafaktoren dissoziert und damit in ihre mögliche Pathogenität beeinflußt werden könnte.
