Zusammenfassung

Psychologisches Testen ist lange Zeit die einzige Fachrichtung des Klinischen Psychologen gewesen, eine Tatsache, die aus der Geschichte dieses Gebietes zu verstehen ist. Neuere Entwicklungen haben eine Reihe von Widersprüchen zwischen den Annahmen, die aus dieser traditionellen Gewichtung resultieren, ans Licht gebracht. Zum Beispiel berichtet Meehl (1960), daß nur 17% der Psychotherapeuten (N = 168; die Befragten gehörten einem „breiten Spektrum von Orientierungen“ an) davon überzeugt sind, daß die Vorinformationen, die das Testen ergibt, einen gewissen Nutzen für sie haben. Obwohl diese Veränderung in der Gewichtung und Wertschätzung zuerst auf der Ebene der therapeutischen Praxis erfolgte, hat die vor kurzem stattgefundene Tagung für Klinische Psychologie (Hoch, Ross und Winder, 1966) deutlich werden lassen, daß in Ausbildungsprogrammen im Unterrichtsbereich und in der klinischen Praxis ebenfalls eine Neubewertung der Rolle des psychologischen Testens stattfindet. In dieser und in anderer Hinsicht scheint es deutlich zu sein, daß Widersprüche vorhanden sind zwischen der traditionellen Auffassung vom Testen und der gegenwärtigen Praxis. Eine Untersuchung der Vorgeschichte dieser Widersprüche und der damit verbundenen Probleme könnte es uns ermöglichen, uns von bestimmten veralteten Annahmen und Verfahrensweisen zu befreien.
