Zusammenfassung

Der Begriff der arteriellen Verschlußkrankheit (Ratschow 1956, 1959) oder der obliterierenden Gefäßkrankheit (Hess 1959) ist ein vom klinisch-therapeutischen Handeln her notwendiger, also situationsbedingter Kompromißbegriff (Köster 1969). Dieser klinisch wichtige Begriff ist allerdings nur in der Erkenntnis akzeptiert worden, daß der arteriellen Verschlußkrankheit ätiologisch und pathogenetisch verschiedenartige Krankheiten zugrunde liegen können, die in eine gemeinsame Endstrecke einmünden. Diese gemeinsame Endstrecke äußert sich in einem arteriellen Verschlußsyndrom (AVS), worunter funktionelle oder morphologische Zeichen einer verminderten Blutversorgung in einer bestimmten Kreislaufregion verstanden werden.
