Abstract

Thank you for the invitation to speak to your very distinguished meeting. Particularly so, because it implies that a morphological pathologist may have something useful to say about the functional state — the physiology — of the vascular system. I hope this is the case, although I doubt if I can come up to the level of sophistication implied by the title which your secretary has hopefully provided for me.
