Problems in the feeding of the weaned child
In India the population of the preschoolchildren is estimated to be about 110 millions. Of these about 30 °/o or about 33 million are said to be suffering from malnutrition of varying degrees. The weaning habits of the countrv differ from place to place. In most households of lower income groups the weaned child is fed with the food which the parents take but made more dilute in the form of gruel or porridge. This practice coupled with some food taboos has been found to be the cause of multiple nutritional deficiency in this age group.
