Human-Oriented Organizational Design and Management in Plants with an Advanced CNC Technology — Research Findings from 29 Swedish Enterprises
The introduction of CNC machines has a rule resulted in a higher productivity, efficiency and quality. We have, however, a rather poor empirically based knowledge of the new demands as to the expedient organization, management and the operator’s job content, that new technology brings about. We still need more general knowledge about the conditions under which we can master the new technology and obtain positive results both with regard to productivity and to job satisfaction. The empirical studies, the main results of which will be reported as follows, are aimed at elucidation some of these conditions. The study was carried out in 29 plants whose production is mainly based upon CNC lathes.
