Zusammenfassung

Entzündungen äußern sich am Zentralnervensystem in gleicher Weise wie an anderen Körperorganen durch Auftreten von Granulozyten und immunkompetenten Zellen, die sich auf einen chemotaktischen, physikalischen Reiz oder bei einer Komplementaktivierung als Reiz auf Erreger oder unbelebte Fremdstoffe im nervösen Gewebe, in der Regel perivaskulär, anreichern. Je nach Reiz und Immunitätslage wechselt das Gewebsmuster von der akuten Störung der BlutHirn- Schranke zu den unterschiedlichen Formen der Infiltratzellen von neutrophilen Granulozyten über lymphozytäre, lymphomonozytäre, lymphoplasmazelluläre Infiltrate bis zu den spezifischen Formen granulomatöser Entzündungen. Die naheliegende Gliederung nach der Ätiologie ist problematisch, da insbesondere im Bereich der viral bedingten Infektionen ein ätiologischer Nachweis nur selten gelingt. Außerdem sind pathogenetische Mechanismen nicht überall so gut geklärt, daß sie zur Grundlage einer Klassifikation gemacht werden könnten.
