Zusammenfassung

In der Bundesrepublik wird mit 1,8 Mio. behandlungsbedürftigen Alkoholkranken gerechnet, in den USA mit 11,5–15,7 % der Bevölkerung, in Großbritannien mit 11 % der Männer und 5 % der Frauen9. Größere Sektionsstatistiken zeigten von 1950–1964 einen Anstieg der alkoholbedingten Todesfälle um 50 % und einen weiteren Anstieg um 50 % im Zeitraum 1964–19687.
