Abstract
In this and the next three chapters we shall discuss in detail the main topics of this book, namely the reactions of the positron and Ps with various reactants added to liquids and solids. We shall in this chapter discuss the positron reactions with heavy reactants, i.e., the reactions with the excess electron are not included. The main reason for starting the discussions with the solvated positron reactions is simply that these reactions are the easiest ones to discuss at present. Only very few positron reactions with heavy reactants have been studied. We shall compare the positron with the excess electron reactions whenever appropriate. As usual we call the excess electron just electron in most cases.
