Denervation and Reinnervation of Muscle: Physiological Effects

  • Conference paper

Abstract

The degree of motor function recovery after peripheral nerve injury is determined by different factors such as type of nerve trauma, duration of the denervation period, correct reestablishment of motor and sensory connections, degree of reinnervation, and status of the muscle. In this paper we consider muscle reinnervation after long-term denervation, changes in the denervated nerve stem, and functional effects of myoblast implantation into adult muscles.
