Abstract
Conflicting descriptions [1–9] of the anatomical organization of the facial nerve motor neurons have bee reconciled recently, through the use of neuroanatomical tracers [10–12] in combination with anterograde tracer and axonal degeneration techniques [13]. These observations have provided an anatomical basis for explaining some of the clinical phenomenon related to the facial nerve.
